When CRPAWS gets cats and kittens that are deemed sociable and ready for adoption at intake they are generally transferred over to the Campbell River BCSPCA. From there they find suitable homes for adoption. If you are looking for kittens, please visit their website or contact them directly at 250-287-7766 or campbellriver@spca.bc.ca
However, often kittens and cats come into our care and require additional socialization before they are ready for adoption. In that case, we place them into one of our loving foster homes to work on socialization. Once they are deemed adoptable, they are posted for adoption. If you are interested in adopting one of the cats/kittens please fill out the adoption application below.

How to Adopt
Prior to Adoption:
Every cat/kitten that comes into our care is checked by a veterinarian and will be spayed/neutered if not previously done. All cats/kittens receive flea and worm meds, 1st vaccine, boosters if in care for 4 weeks after 1st dose, and a tattoo, microchip, or both. Vaccination and spay/neuter certificates are provided at the time of adoption.
Things to consider before adopting:
- Keep in mind that the cat will require time to adjust to your home and other pets
- You must be willing to make a commitment to the well-being of the cat, and accept all financial responsibility for the cat’s care and medical attention
- Ensure you are not adopting on a whim, do some research to make sure that this choice is best for both you and the cat
- Remember that your home will be the cat’s forever home, not a temporary place for it to live until you move or your circumstances change
- If you are considering adopting a kitten, remember that kittens require a lot of time and energy, and that your kitten will soon grow into a cat
How to apply to adopt a cat/kitten from CRPAWS:
- Wait until the cat is posted for adoption on our website and Facebook page
- Read the cat’s profile carefully and determine whether the cat sounds like a good match for you and your lifestyle
- Complete an application with the name of the cat(s) you are applying for
- You may be contacted by the adoption team to discuss your application
- If your application is selected, you can expect an in-person meeting with the cat/kitten and a home visit at your home prior to the adoption being finalized
- If your application is successful, you will sign an adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee and the cat will be delivered to your home
- We will follow up after the adoption to make sure the cat is settling in well and to answer any questions you might have
- If your application is not successful, you will be informed that the cat has been adopted to another home. In most cases, an unsuccessful application is due to the large number of applications received and is not a reflection on your suitability as an adopter. Don’t be discouraged to apply again. Sometimes it takes several applications to find the perfect fit!
